Respected Sir,
My name is Alistair Caban. I am a motor mechanic working in a Hyundai showroom. I am writing this letter to respond to your letter received yesterday, 19 December, 2010 informing me about your decision to suspend my son, Dick Caban, a seventh grade student of your school.
I understand that I have not informed you about Dick's absenteeism even though he is away from school for good 15 days. The reason for the same is that Dick has been suffering from chicken-pox, and he was hospitalized for seven days in the 'Noble Hospital'. The doctor has advised him to take a rest for another 20 days after the discharge. He is also required to visit the doctor twice a week.
I know that at least a call to your school would have been enough to inform. However, as you know, being in a profession of automobile, I hardly get enough time to look into this matter. Moreover, I had to run from pillar to the post in arranging money to meet the hospitalization expenses. Furthermore, I can't even take extra leave due to work load. My routine all these days revolved through home, showroom and hospital. I had some free time only after 21:00 hrs, and calling to your school at that time was out of a question.
I am sorry to keep you in the dark about Dick's absenteeism. However, I am confident that after reading this letter, you can understand the situation I have been through and would reconsider the decision of suspension. Dick will be joining the school from 1st January. I will submit all the medical certificates at the time of joining.
